On February 17, 2022, the Supreme People's Procuracy of Viet Nam coordinated with the Ministry of Justice of Japan to organize a seminar on reform of the Japan Public Prosecutor's Office. Mr. Nguyen Quang Dung, Deputy Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuracy of Viet Nam attended and chaired the Seminar at the bridge point of the Supreme People's Procuracy of Viet Nam.
The seminar was held online, connecting three bridge point: the Supreme People's Procuracy of Viet Nam, Ministry of Justice of Japan and the University for Prosecutors in Ha Noi (T2). Attending the workshop at the bridge point of the Supreme People's Procuracy of Viet Nam were representative leaders of the Departments, Institutes under the Supreme People's Procuracy of Viet Nam, the Central Military Procuracy and the High-level People’s Procuracy in Ha Noi.
Opening speech at the seminar, Mr. Nguyen Quang Dung, Deputy Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuracy of Viet Nam emphasized that Viet Nam is in the process of building and perfecting the Socialist rule of law State of Vietnam by 2030, with orientation to 2045 and the Judicial Reform Strategy to meet the requirements of building a Rule of Law State in this period. The People's Procuracy of Viet Nam, as an important institution in the organization of the Vietnamese state apparatus - being both the subject and the object of judicial reform, is responsible for researching and proposing contents related to reforming the organization and operation of the People's Procuracy in the Judicial Reform Strategy.
Through research and cooperating with Japan over the past two decades, the Supreme People's Procuracy of Viet Nam has determined that the Japanese Public Prosecution Service is a typical example of a strong prosecution system that operates effectively in investigating and prosecuting crimes. Therefore, within the framework of this seminar, Mr. Nguyen Quang Dung, Deputy Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuracy of Viet Nam wished to receive valuable information and experiences from Japanese prosecutors on reforming the organization and operation of the Public Prosecutors Office of Japan to study and consult about judicial reform in general and reform of the Supreme People's Procuracy of Viet Nam in particular in the coming time.
According to plan, the webinar will be held in February 17 and 18, 2022. Delegates of the Supreme People's Procuracy of Viet Nam and the Ministry of Justice of Japan will study and discuss about the rule of law State and the provisions on judicial power in the Constitution of Japan; the Japan Public Prosecutor's Office system; Japan's judicial reform; regulations on taking audio and video testimonies in Japan; regulations and practices on taking audio and video testimonies in Viet Nam and other contents of mutual interest.
