With the approval of the Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuracy (SPP) of Viet Nam, and at the invitation of Mr. Ip Son Sang, Prosecutor General of the Public Prosecutions Office of the Macau Special Administrative Region (Macau SAR) of China, a high-level delegation from the SPP led by Mr. Tran Hai Quan, Deputy Prosecutor General of Viet Nam, paid a working visit to Macau from 16th to 18th of April, 2026.
On the afternoon of 16th April, 2026, at the headquarters of the Public Prosecutions Office of Macau SAR, the two sides held talks in an open, goodwill, and cooperative atmosphere. Speaking at the talks, Deputy Prosecutor General Tran Hai Quan expressed his pleasure at visiting and working in Macau SAR, and extended his sincere thanks to Prosecutor General Ip Son Sang and Macanese colleagues for their solemn and thoughtful reception. He emphasized that this is an important milestone, marking the first time the SPP of Viet Nam has organized a high-level delegation to visit and work in Macau SAR, thereby demonstrating a strong determination to push the cooperative relationship between the procuratorial organs of Viet Nam and Macau into greater depth, substance, and effectiveness.

During the talks, both sides reviewed the positive cooperative results achieved between Viet Nam and China in general, and specifically between the SPP of Viet Nam and the SPP of China, as well as the Public Prosecutions Office of Macau SAR in recent times. The two sides exchanged information on operational situations and shared practical experiences in exercising prosecution rights and supervising judicial activities.
On the Vietnamese side, Deputy Prosecutor General Tran Hai Quan provided a brief overview of several outstanding events in Viet Nam during 2026, while highlighting the necessity to further strengthen cooperation and experience sharing in the coming time, particularly in the fight against transnational crime.
On the Macau side, Mr. Ip Son Sang, Prosecutor General of the Public Prosecutions Office of Macau SAR, expressed his delight in welcoming the delegation of the SPP of Viet Nam led by Mr. Tran Hai Quan. Prosecutor General Ip Son Sang introduced the delegation to the organizational structure, functions, duties, recruitment, and training of prosecutors, as well as the operational results of the Public Prosecutions Office of Macau SAR in 2025 and the first quarter of 2026. He also shared the current challenges faced by Macau's law enforcement agencies, particularly in combating crimes related to narcotics, high-tech crime, and illegal immigration, thereby expressing a desire for both sides to continue strengthening cooperation and exchanging practical experiences in crime prevention.

At the conclusion of the talks, both sides agreed to continue consolidating and developing their cooperative relationship in a practical and effective direction. This will focus on cooperation in exchanging working delegations, human resource training, and supporting the timely execution of mutual legal assistance requests in criminal matters, contributing to enhancing the efficiency of crime prevention and control in the new global context.
