The Supreme People's Procuracy of Viet Nam and the Prosecutor General's Office of Uzbekistan held a meeting and signed the Treaty on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters

The Supreme People's Procuracy of Viet Nam attended the courtesy visit with Mr. Nguyen Quang Dung, Deputy Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuracy of Viet Nam; Mr. Tang Ngoc Tuan, Director of Personnel Department (V15); Mr. Nguyen Duc Thai, Director of the Department of Public Prosecution and Supervision over the Investigation of Corruption and Position related crime (V5); Ms. Vu Thi Hai Yen, Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminals matters (V13) and Mr. Nguyen Duc Bang, Director of the Department of Administration and General affairs (VP).

The high-ranking delegation of the General Prosecutor's Office of Uzbekistan attending the courtesy visit with Mr. Lutfullaev Sherzod Esanovich, Director of the Investigation Department for particularly serious crimes; Mr. Giyasov Rustam Yusufdjanovich, Director of the Department of International Law; Mr. Zakirov Alisher Asrorovich, Deputy Director of the Samarkand Provincial Prosecutor’s Office and Mr. Mirzaev Azamat Egamberdievich, Deputy Director of the Kashkadarya Provincial Prosecutor’s Office.

After the courtesy visit, under the chairmanship of Mr. Le Minh Tri, Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuracy of Viet Nam and Mr. Yuldoshev N.T., the Prosecutor General of Uzbekistan, the two sides held a meeting and signed a Treaty on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters between Viet Nam and Uzbekistan.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Le Minh Tri, Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuracy of Viet Nam affirmed that the two countries Viet Nam and Uzbekistan have a long-standing traditional friendship. The visit of Prosecutor General of Uzbekistan in Viet Nam this time has an important meaning on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Viet Nam and Uzbekistan. Over the past years, the two countries have always maintained and developed the bilateral relationship, cooperated equally for mutual benefit and achieved many great achievements in national construction, socio-economic development and international integration. Regarding economic, trade and investment cooperation between the two countries, there have been positive changes, but it is still modest and isn’t commensurate with the potential of the two countries.

Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuracy of Viet Nam, Mr. Le Minh Tri emphasized that the signing of the Treaty on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters between Viet Nam and Uzbekistan has profound political and legal significance; thereby, strengthening the cooperative relationship between the two countries, making an important contribution to perfecting the legal framework in cooperation in crime prevention; at the same time, contributing to promoting economic development between the two countries in the coming time.

In order to effectively implement the contents of the Treaty on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters, after signing, the two sides need to coordinate and perform well the following contents: Expeditiously carry out necessary legal procedures for early ratification of the Treaty; regularly contact, coordinate to solve any difficulties in the implementation of requests for criminal legal assistance. Exchange of delegations to visit and work at senior and expert levels in order to maintain and strengthen friendly relations and mutual understanding; exchange working experiences, discuss issues of professional supervision that are of interest to the two sides. To strengthen cooperation in the field of training officers and prosecutors; scientific research, law-making. Coordinating to study the signing of the Cooperation Program in each period with specific cooperation activities on the basis of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Procuracy and Prosecutors’ Office of the two countries.

At the meeting, Prosecutor General of Uzbekistan, Mr. Yuldoshev N.T thanked for the enthusiastic and warm welcome given to the delegation of Uzbekistan by the the Supreme People's Procuracy of Viet Nam. Agreeing with the assessment content and direction of cooperation between the two countries' Procuracy and Prosecutors’ Office in the coming time mentioned by the Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuracy of Viet Nam, Mr. Le Minh Tri. The Prosecutor General of Uzbekistan, Mr. Yuldoshev N.T believes that the traditional and friendly relationship between the two countries and the close coordination between the two countries' Procuracy and Prosecutors’ Office will grow and achieve many practical results over the coming years.

After the meeting, Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuracy of Viet Nam, Mr. Le Minh Tri and the Prosecutor General of Uzbekistan, Mr. Yuldoshev N.T signed the Treaty on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters between Viet Nam and Uzbekistan. This is a direct legal basis for law enforcement agencies of the two countries to strengthen cooperation in investigating, prosecuting and adjudicating criminal cases in order to effectively fight against various types of crimes, especially transnational organized crime; better protect the legitimate rights and interests of citizens of the two countries.
