On 24th March, 2025, the Supreme People's Procuracy of Viet Nam held a talks with the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan. H.E. Nguyen Huy Tien, Prosecutor General of Viet Nam, and H.E. Aliyev Kamran Bayram, Prosecutor General of the Republic of Azerbaijan co-chaired the talks.

The representative from the Supreme People's Procuracy of Viet Nam attending the talks were Mr. Nguyen Quang Dung, Deputy Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuracy; Mr. Nguyen Tien Son, Assistant Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuracy; Mr. Tang Ngoc Tuan, Director of Personnel Department (V15); Ms. Vu Thi Hai Yen, Director of International Cooperation and Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters Department (V13); Mr. Pham Thanh Tung, Director of Administration and General Affairs Department (VP).

Speaking at the talks, H.E. Nguyen Huy Tien, Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuracy of Viet Nam, expressed his pleasure to welcome the high-ranking delegation of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Azerbaijan to visit and work with the Supreme People's Procuracy of Viet Nam. At the same time, he provided an overview of the relationship between the two countries and introduced the functions, tasks and organizational structure of the People's Procuracy of Viet Nam.

H.E. Nguyen Huy Tien, The Prosecutor General of Viet Nam said that in the context of extensive international integration, in addition to the general crime situation, especially non-traditional crimes, transnational crimes, and high-tech crimes, tends to increasingly develop with sophisticated and complex nature, Which require to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the Supreme People's Procuracy of Viet Nam and the Prosecutor General’s Office of Azerbaijan.

Within the framework of this visit, the two sides will sign a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the Supreme People's Procuracy of Viet Nam and the Prosecutor General’s Office of Azerbaijan. The Memorandum will create a favorable legal basis for implementing cooperation activities in the legal field between the two prosecutorial agencies, especially in the fight against transnational crimes; in protecting public interests; in capacity building for prosecutors through training; thereby contributing to strengthening the good traditional friendship and cooperation between Viet Nam and Azerbaijan.

Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan signed the Memorandum of Understanding between
the Supreme People's Procuracy of Viet Nam and the Prosecutor General’s Office of Azerbaijan.
To maximize the effectiveness of cooperation between the two prosecutorial agencies, H.E. Nguyen Huy Tien, Prosecutor General of Supreme People's Procuracy of Viet Nam suggested that the two sides should regularly exchange delegations at all levels for visits, working session and study to enhance friendship and mutual understanding; closely co-operate in training and fostering officials and prosecutors of the two countries; strongly coordinate in the fight against crime, especially transnational organized crime, high-tech crime and cooperate in the field of protecting public interests within the jurisdiction of the two sides; find out the possibility of negotiating and signing an Agreement on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters between Viet Nam and Azerbaijan; expand and flexibly implement new forms of cooperation through direct or online seminars and workshops on topics of mutual interest to both sides or where each side has strengths. This contributes to promoting the relationship between Viet Nam and Azerbaijan in general and the cooperation between the two countries' Procuracies in particular to be constantly strengthened and developed.

Speaking at the talks, H.E. Aliyev Kamran Bayram, Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan, express his gratitude for the warm welcome extended by the leaders of the Supreme People's Procuracy of Viet Nam. Reviewing the good cooperative relationship between the two prosecutorial agencies and the two countries, the Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan believed that in the coming time, on the basis of the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation between the Supreme People's Procuracy of Viet Nam and the Prosecutor General’s Office of Azerbaijan, the cooperative relationship between the two prosecutorial agencies as well as the traditional friendly cooperative relationship between the two countries will be further consolidated, enhanced and developed.
